Various racing News

World Supermoto Championship

On, Sunday, July 22, the Bulgarian Grand Prix was disputed at Pleven, the sixth round of the World Supermoto Championship. The race was disputed in extreme conditions thanks to an oppressive heat that practically melted the Bulgarian asphalt. In the first heat of the S1, Van Den Bosch made a spectacular comeback that brought him from 9th place to his 3rd-place finish behind brothers Adrien and Thomas Chareyre. However, at the start of Race 2 he was involved in a fall. In fact, three bikes made contact with each other at the first curve, hitting VDB’s Aprilia near the rear brake. The current 450 world champion literally flew in the air and violently hit the ground. He attempted to start up again but the rear brake lever was blocked under the carter, making it impossible to continue racing. Decisively better was the S2 class where Christian Iddon (Aprilia SXV 5.5), placed 2nd overall in the day’s classification.

X-Games Supermoto

Ben Carlson and Darryl Atkins riding SXV 450's finished 11th and 16th among some of the biggest supermoto stars in the world.

MX1 Motocross

The Aprilia Offroad team tried out a new Big bang configuration on the MXV. The riders really liked it and they achieved the best results of this year during the belgian GP. Chiodi finished 14th and 15th. Cedric Melotte had a unlucky first race with a DNF but he finished the second race in 16th place. Hopefully this is the beginning of better results for the Aprilia MX team.

250cc Grand Prix

Alex Debon will be replacing Jorge Lorenzo at Fortuna Aprilia in the 2008 season. Alex Debon is Aprilia's test driver who helped developing the new RSW250. Jorge Lorenzo will be joining Valentino Rossi at Yamaha.
